The coronavirus epidemic is causing quite a big stir around the world both in the media and within China itself. Given the situation more space is needed to contain the problem, and a whole new hospital was constructed from planning to completion in just 10 days.

According to the Business Insider, the Huoshenshan Hospital boasts a massive 25,000 square meters of space filled with 1,000 beds, and 1,400 military medics of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army. Work on the hospital began on January 23rd 2020 and was completed on Sunday morning on the 2nd of February 2020.

If you’re wondering how an entire hospital could be built so quickly, according to the BBC, the medical center is made from prefabricated buildings similar to a hospital built in Beijing back in the year 2003 during the Sars virus outbreak. In a sense, a lot of corners were probably cut but the necessary things needed to contain the outbreak is what’s important and is what’s there.
As per the time of writing this article, there have been 17,500 confirmed cases of Coronavirus infections globally with 489 victims recovered and 362 deaths. It should be noted that 17,276 of confirmed cases are from within China itself with 480 of those cases recovered and 361 deaths.
