As we all know, not all McDonald's around the world are the same. The bubur ayam and ayam goreng you find at our local ones don't sell in any other country, and some countries without a majority Muslim population serve pork burgers too.
Japan, the land of good food and good art, recently showed off both these assets in their newest line of food. In their summer collection of McFizz drinks, they released three colourful drinks- Blood Orange, Lemon Ginger and Blue Hawaii.
To add to the aesthetic (because this is obviously Japan we're talking about here), the cups are also specially designed so that when you tilt some of the empty cups at a certain angle, the illustration of a girl on one side actually 'kisses' the illustration of a boy on the other! So creative!
However, the Japanese have proven to be way more creative than that, as it was soon realised that turning the cup at different angles produced rather... unsavoury poses between the illustrated couple.
What an insult this must be to the designer! Two out of the three unique cups can totally be viewed in a different light, which is kind of sad but at the same time has definitely brought worldwide attention to McDonald's Japan.
Despite all that has happened, McDonald's Japan has not released any statements about it nor taken it down. In fact, their latest post about the drink was to offer a discounted price. Hey, we guess even bad publicity is still publicity, right?
If you're in Japan this summer, get yourself a cup, maybe?
