When Pokémon Go, the infamous phone app was released in 2016, both Pokémon fans and the curious alike rushed to see what all the hype was about. The lure of looking for Pokémon around your neighbourhood and capturing them with a flick of your finger is still appealing to some, three years on.
Now, in Taiwan, those who feel like they can be the next Ash Ketchum can now feel the same way when they get on the MRT too! EasyCard Corporation, which is basically the Taiwanese version of Touch N' Go, has teamed up with Niantic, who came up with the Pokémon Go game.
The result? A Poké Ball EasyCard! Basically, the Poké Ball works like a card would. Just reload it and use it at any Taiwanese MRT station, tapping it at the counter where you would normally tap your card at. For every successful transaction, the middle of the Poké Ball will glow green!
The Poké Ball is probably small enough to fit into the palm of your hand and comes with a strap so you won't lose it (but we all know that it's so that you can use it as a cool keychain). One is sold for NT$350 (around RM46) and each commuter is only allowed to buy a maximum of four.
The second wave of pre-orders just closed, where both waves of pre-orders opened for only 14,000 orders. The first batch will be out end of this month, where we're sure we'll see brand new Pokémon trainers everywhere, or at least in Taiwanese metro stations!
Wow! Do you think we should do this in Malaysia too?
