We've all heard the stories of how people use Snapchat's gender swap filter to make Tinder profiles of themselves as the opposite sex, just for fun.
However, this San Francisco college student devised a plan to use it for good after he heard the story of his friend being sexually assaulted as a child.
Using the gender swap filter on Snapchat, Ethan (whose last name has been withheld for his privacy) took a picture of himself and turned into 'Esther'.
Using the fake photo, he then set up a Tinder account, "just looking to get someone", according to him. It didn't take long for someone to start talking to Ethan.
However, this wasn't just anyone. It just so happened to be police officer Robert Davies, who didn't seem to care that 'Esther' was 'only 16'.
Over the next 12 hours, their conversations would turn more and more explicit. Ethan took screenshots throughout their text conversations and ended up sending them to Crime Stoppers, an anonymous tip-off service.
Davies, who was just recently recognised for his leadership in the force, has been placed on paid administrative leave.
Would you ever do something like this, or would you be too scared to?
