According to a news article in The Star, Tan Ching Swee is a 60 years old handyman who can’t stand seeing how a piece of land is being used as a place for people to dump their rubbish. He noticed that the kids in the neighbourhood doesn’t have a proper place from them to play thus, he got an idea to turn the 0.2-hectare land in Batu Pahat, Johor into a playground for kids.

Tan also opened a small business selling Thai food with his wife at the playground. To help ensure the playground is properly maintained, there’s a donation box ready for people to donate. He hopes in the future, more parks like this will be set up in Johor.
The sacrifices of one man benefits the many! Good job Tan! We wish him all the best and hope the playground prosper!
