Do you know why we're reducing the use of plastic straws?
Plastic straws that are not discarded properly are polluting the environment. These discarded straws are also harming wildlife if it gets washed down to the seas.
As such, many eateries are beginning to embrace the No Plastic Straws initiative to reduce the likelihood of plastic straws polluting the environment.
Some have opted to offer biodegradable choices such as bamboo and paper straws, or reusable ones such as metal and glass straws too.

No 1 A straw has been found stuck in a turtle’s nose!
Did you know our plastic straws have caused sea creatures lots of problems? On 10 August 2015, a group of researchers found a sea turtle with a straw wedged in its nostril! The poor turtle was in pain and bleeding when they tried to pull it out.
If we use a reusable straw like a metal straw, we can avoid filling our oceans with plastic straws and other garbage!

A metal straw is a more environmentally friendly choice because it can be washed and reused. If it’s made out of stainless steel, the straws wouldn’t rust and would last a long time!

Metal straws are also favoured as compared to plastic, paper, bamboo or glass straws because they can be washed and reused. A metal straw is also more durable!

Our beaches may look clean on the surface but did you know 80% of all litter in the ocean are actually made out of plastic?
Since plastic does not degrade, it can last and pollute our oceans for years and years. Sometimes, all this rubbish will also wash back onto our shores and this makes our beaches dirty! EWW!
