We’ve heard many tips and tricks to stop our fruits from ripening too fast and sometimes, it all don't work effectively.
A Malaysian guy, Zhafri Zainudin, has a friend who owns a fruit stall who complained about his fruits going bad quickly. This cost this poor friend to lose money.
Zhafri then thought to himself, “Maybe I can’t stop nature, but could I slow it down?”
In a bid to solve this problem, Zhafri and Buquari Othman founded their own company, Stixfresh, in 2017.

What they came up with was a sticker that is coated with sodium chloride and beeswax.
It’s 100% organic and it works to remove ethylene, a ripening hormone found in fresh produce.
The stickers also prevent mould from growing and that help to keep fruits firm and juicy.
What’s important to remember is that the stickers can only be used once. If they are peeled off, the sticker will lose its efficacy.
So far, Stixfresh works best on fruits such as avocados, papayas, mangoes, dragon fruits, apples, pears and star fruits. They are currently working on a new concept that will work on soft skin fruits like berries.

These stickers are also winners of the ASEAN Rice Bowl Startup Awards 2018 for Best Food/ Agri Tech Startup!
After launching in the United States in November, they are now setting sights to expand to Europe, Africa, Asia and the American Continent. Woohoo!
