Lonely While Travelling? This Hotel Lets You Have A Goldfish Friend, But Just Don't Kill It, Okay?

Some people are better at being alone than others. There are people who can only go as far as having a meal in public alone, or watching a movie in a cinema alone. Others who are a little more brave can make a big purchase alone, or even backpack around the world all by themselves!
However, no man is an island. No matter how much you like being alone, no one likes the feeling of loneliness. Well, Moty Hotel in Malacca has just the right solution for solo travellers who need a buddy. Introducing, your two new friends: Baby and Shark. They happen to be goldfish!
Yes, Moty Hotel will let you rent a fish bowl with two little goldfish in if you're alone in your room and need company, although we're not so sure if they'll let you rent it if you have more than one person with you. The service is complimentary, but a RM100 penalty will be incurred if the fish are found 'dead or fried'!
The terms and conditions are pretty hilarious. Besides the serious ones where you're not allowed to feed them without letting the front desk know, other rules involve not filling the tank with soft drinks because they're diabetic and not trying to catch them with your hands because they have sharp teeth.
You are also not allowed to scare them by tapping on the glass (unless they call out for help, obviously) and to not take them out of the hotel because unlike our lonely travellers, Baby and Shark aren't big fans of travelling. Guests also rent at their own risk as the fish are allegedly dangerous, and have to bear the hospital fees if the fish need it!
A hotel in Belgium was the first in allowing guests to rent a pet fish for the duration of their stay, but this is definitely the first time we've heard of something like this in Malaysia!
